Royal Veterinary College Equestrian Team

new-crest-page-001We are involved in British Universities and Colleges Sport – A team competes in the championship league, B and C teams compete in the trophy league. Each team can qualify for Regional Rounds from their mini-league with the winner then going on to compete at the National Championships! Our competitions are unique in that we all compete on borrowed horses, removing any barrier to riders who don’t have their own horse to ride. We complete dressage and showjumping rounds and are marked against riders in the other university teams that ride the same horse. As we only have 7 minutes to warm up for dressage and 5 minutes for showjumping it is definitely a test of how well you can adapt and get a feel for the horse in a short amount of time!

I’m a fourth year Veterinary Student, currently balancing my own two horses with my degree and jointly captaining the Equestrian Team with Taz. I am regularly out competing with British Dressage at Elementary and training at Advanced Medium.

I’m a new member of the team as I’ve started studying Bioveterinary Science this September. I’m a keen eventer and when I’m not in lectures or commuting I am training with my team. I compete two of my horses up to BE novice, and we are working towards our first international and intermediate next year.  2016 has been very successful, and getting onto the Royal Veterinary College Equestrian Team was the icing on the cake!

I’m a second year vet student from Hampshire who balances studying in London with competing in the University A-team. At home I compete my ISH, Popeye, at Newcomers with the aim of taking him higher this year. Previously I have competed in teams and as an individual for both Pony Club and Riding Club up to a national level. As social secretary for the team, I organise a variety of events from our annual tour to guest speakers.

This is my fourth year studying Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College alongside being part of the Equestrian Team and ex-captain. Last year I competed as an individual at the University Nationals finishing in the top 10 for dressage. This year I’ve competed my own young horse at home up to BD Medium with hopes to go further in the coming months!
